Excited for the upcoming release of the PSVR 2? In this guide, we’ll be briefly explaining how to connect the PSVR 2 to the PS5, so you can get your virtual reality headset up and running as fast as possible.

If you’re wondering how to connect your PSVR 2 headset to the PS5, the answer is pretty simple. All you have to do is plug the headset into the console itself using a the USB-c cord which runs out of it. The PSVR 2 needs the PS5 to work; it cannot run by itself like the latest Oculus Rift. Load the PSVR 2 games up on the PS5, plug in the cord from the headset, and you’ll be good to go.

As the headset is not actually out yet, we can’t be too sure about the exact set-up process. But judging by the USB-c cord and a statement by Sony, there will be no wireless connectivity. Yep, no Bluetooth or any similar deal. That kind of sucks. But the wired connection means high-quality and speedy visuals will be more likely.

How will the PSVR 2 connect to the PS5?

The PSVR 2 headset will link to the PS5 via a wired USB-c connection. It’s worth bearing in mind that the PSVR 2 is only compatible with the PS5. It will not work with the PS4 or any other consoles.

As we would expect from Sony, PSVR 2 will come with clear set-up instructions, so you’ll be able to work out how to establish your headset pretty quickly. Plus, although it’s a shame about the lack of wireless connectivity, it does mean the set-up process will be a lot more simple. Just plug in the cable and you’ll be basically ready to go.

Final thoughts

So although it’s a little disappointing that there is no wireless connection with the new Sony PSVR 2 headset, the USB-c connection looks like it will deliver a clear and simple way of connecting to the PS5.

As you’d expect from a wired connection, gameplay will probably be slicker and higher quality than if it were a wireless connection. However, with Sony being the forward thinking brand they are, we are looking forward to a possible wireless VR headset at some point in the future.
