Brands worldwide showcased their upcoming technologies at Computex 2024, and MSI didn’t hold back from making a lasting impression. They unveiled the MEG Vision X AI desktop, which combines MSI’s gamer aesthetics, powerful next-gen components, and AI to complete the package.

They dubbed it the “World’s first AI HMI (Human Machine Interface),” and while tech giants like AMD released their AI CPUs, we’re excited to see what MSI’s AI desktop brings to the table.

MEG Vision X AI

This desktop from MSI leverages the power of AI to enhance the user experience and make it the main driving point; they made the front panel of the desktop casing a touch screen. You might be wondering what a front touch screen has to do with its AI capabilities. However, this ingenious design not only makes it look good, but also adds a layer of functionality.

It shows the temperature, system info, clock speeds, and other important information without you having to dig for it. The MSI AI Engine also optimizes the rig’s performance by adjusting running apps, lighting, audio settings, AI wallpaper, and more. As if that wasn’t enough, MSI added the AI Artist and MSI Chat, which work together to effectively output images with twice the resolution compared to previous models.

Another great aspect of the MEG Vision X AI desktop is that it acts as a personal assistant and helps you streamline your workflows by searching the data in your folders, analyzing it, and then giving you an answer.

That said, AI having access to your data doesn’t ring a nice bell, and we’ve seen the controversy caused by Microsoft’s Copilot+ Recall feature. To avoid this issue, MSI implemented this functionality to operate locally, which means it should work without needing to establish a connection to the server over the internet. This should add a layer of security as your data isn’t being transferred to and from a server for processing.

Apart from its fancy touch screen, it also features a back-connect design, which moves all the connections to the back of the PC. This design should help clean up the clutter of multiple connections and their wires, and it should also promote efficient airflow and better thermal dissipation.

Is the front panel useful or a marketing gimmick?

While we can’t be certain about its use cases but if we go by with what we know, this should open up a bunch of possibilities. For example, if you’re a Twitch streamer, you could use the touch screen to read the chat and interact with the viewers without needing a second monitor.

On the other hand, you could also display custom 3D wallpapers to further enhance the aesthetics of your game room or just keep it simple by displaying essential system information.

However, this does mean that you’ll have to strategically place this casing in a way that would make it easy to use and view. Another side to this design is that we don’t know whether you can attach case fans to the front side anymore due to the screen, and if that is the case, we’ll have to wait for it to be officially released to see what MSI came up with as an alternative to that.

In either case, we’re excited to get our hands on this PC and take it for a ride that would test the limits of its MEG title.
