It’s no secret that Panasonic is one of the most prestigious TV manufacturers in the game, with picture quality so good even movie producers use them for post-production tasks. The brand’s newest OLED TV lineup is no less impressive, setting its sights firmly on the gaming sector. That’s right, look out LG, Panasonic aren’t here to play games – well, they are, but you get what I mean.

The Japanese manufacturer has been hinting at moving into the gaming realm for some time now, and with the arrival of a fresh OLED TV lineup, that time is finally here. With the arrival of exciting new models that boast an array of gaming features, Panasonic looks to rival LG’s game-friendly C4 + G4 models – with its own Z95A, Z93A, and Z90A models.

The three new premium models are, without doubt, the best OLED panels the brand has created, offering up all the usual features gamers could want, including; 144Hz refresh rate support for both HDR and SDR content, MLA technology, and a built-in soundbar too (on the less premium models).

The design of the new OLED Lineup is very similar to that of yesteryear’s models, so don’t be expecting any exciting new features in that department. That said, the brand’s desire for picture quality continues with the new lineup, all of which have benefitted from a boost in picture quality and color accuracy.

Should LG be worried?

I suppose that all comes down to what Panasonic lists these TVs for. One of the major reasons most people opt for the fan-favorite LG C-series TVs is due to cost. They are some of the most well-priced OLED panels on the market and that’s clearly shown in the volume of sales these TVs receive.

That said, LG was the first to the game when it came to tailoring features to gamers, meaning they ended up with a huge market share. Of course, that is no longer the case, with Samsung, Sony, TCL, Hisense, and now Panasonic all listing their own respectable gaming TVs.

If Panasonic manages to land these TVs on shelves at a price that’s close to – or below – that of the LG C-series, we could see people shift over (especially if the early reviews are to be digested by buyers).

Overall, this is good news for the market, as more OLED TVs means more competition. We’ll try and review the new TVs once we can get our hands on them, giving them a full review and our thoughts on whether or not they’ll become increasingly popular in the months to come.
